Chapter 1
"They will be safe here, we have two more rooms for them" A harsh voice hit, Ghost's ears.
"Please, take good care of them" Their mother's voice sounded worried.
"Their names are Sugar and Ghost" Their father's voice was much calmer.
'Don't they want us?'
"Their eyes aren't even open yet, they won't know anything but the circus" The harsh voice spoke once more.
"We might come back one day, I hope to see them again" Their mother's tongue rasped over Ghost's ears.
"It's time to go, sweetheart" Their father's voice was gentle when speaking to their mother.
"I know… Be strong my little pups" Her mother's scent wreathed around ghost and she felt her mother nuzzling her fur.
'Why are you leaving us?'
The gruff voiced creature picked ghost up by the scruff, making her squeal. She could feel her mother's anxiety rolling off her like waves, Hearing her mother whisper be strong one more time made Ghost's heart break. 'Why? Aren't we good enough?'  The question why they left the two sisters bugged Ghost for a long time. Wind blowing back her fur told her the gruff voiced creature had turned and started walking away with them. Where are we going?'  Soft grass felt cold under her paws as she was dropped down by her sister, the dew soaked through Ghost's fur making her push against her sister's for warmth. A sharp prod from a cold nose made Ghost open her eyes for the first time. Everything was blurred, yellows, reds, and blacks were everywhere but she could distinguish anything, when Ghost turned she saw her sister looking at her. 'She does look like a rainbow.'
Ghost noticed how dark her sister looked in comparison to her; Ghost had blue and pink fur like cotton candy while her sister had black fur with rainbow stripes. 'Are we really twins?'  A puddle lay near Ghost; she leaned over to look at herself to see more comparison between her sister and herself. Ghost's eyes weren't round like her sister's; they were diamond like with white pupils,

Looking back at her sister she saw black and gray round eyes staring back at her. 'They said we were twins, then why do we look so different?'  Her sister didn't look as nice as her, she looked almost angry, but so did the gruff voiced creature.  He was a blue dog like creature like the twins, but much bigger. He had a grey and black chest and under belly that looked like a suit and dark gray mask looking spots around his eyes.  He had gray paws with cuffs around the front, his hind paws were also gray but purple and red stripes ran up the length of his legs, and his tail had the same pattern, and at the end of his tail he had a whip like appendage. He wore a black and green striped top hat and a black bow tie around his neck. 'He sure is creepy looking.' Ghost shivered.
"I am, Ringmaster. I lead all the circus creatures around here; you will meet them later on" Ringmaster spoke like he couldn't care less. "If you look behind you there are two tents, they are yours, once you step inside they will turn into your dream room."
"How can they?" Sugar asked harshly.
'She's talking already?'
"Magic dear, Sugar, in this land nothing has to make sense, why do you think we are outcasts?" Ringmaster's voice became cold when he talked of being outcasts.
'Why are they outcasts? Is that why our parents ran away?'
"Let's start with you, Sugar" Ringmaster looked down at the rainbow pup.
They turned around to see the huge tents, they were ten times larger than Ringmaster and the twins combined. Thick yellow and red stripes lined down the tent, but instead of being happy and bright something about it looked creepy and rundown. Inside was no better the thick yellow and red stripes were faded through the material and the ground was hard gray stone. Light shone through were Ringmaster opened up the material to get inside, everything else was dark and scary. 'This is where we are living?' The cold ground pierced through Ghost like ice, she didn't like this place at all.
"Well, where's my room?" Sugar growled with a smug expression on her face.
"You must imagine what you want in your room" Ringmaster told her calmly.

'How can he be so nice to her? She can be so mean, is that what I'm supposed to be like?'
"Fine" Sugar snarled and closed her eyes.
A bright light blinded Ghost, making her squint and cover her eyes with a paw, 'What's going on?'  As the light dimmed Ghost put her paw down and opened her eyes once more blinking away the blur that still clung to her sight. As things began to clear Ghost saw what her sister truly saw when she thought of a perfect room. The room still looked run down and scary, but instead of faded yellow and red stripes the walls were blackish-gray and had rainbow stripes like Ghost's sister's fur. The ground no longer was gray hard stone, but now was a black grass material; it pricked at Ghost's paws and made her uncomfortable.
A gray hammock hung in the right corner, with broken, run down stairs leading up to it, perfect for jumping. A trampoline sat it the other corner with a rope hanging over it. 'Does she like to climb?'  Stairs lined around the room, sometimes short holes would come up where she would have to jump across. 'This room seems dangerous' A couple of large dark blue and purple pillows lay on the floor, 'At least there's one safe thing in here.'  Everything was dark and creepy to Ghost, but Sugar seemed to love it. Her dark eyes sparkled as she looked at her new room.
"Would you like to share your room?" Ringmaster's voice startled her, "Sometimes twins like the same things."
"No I would like my own room" Ghost spoke up shyly.
"If that's what you want" Something in Ringmaster's eyes made Ghost nervous.
'Why is he looking at me like that?'
"Are you coming to see Ghost's room, Sugar?" Ringmaster turned to Ghost's sister.
She was already running up the stairs on the walls, jumping over the gaps to the next bit of stairs. 'She's amazing at jumping and keeping her balance.'  A small bit of jealousy welled up in Ghost, but she instantly pushed it away, 'I should be happy for my sister, she already feels at home. But does she remember we were abandoned?'  Sugar jumped off the stairs and flipped in

Midair, Ghost tensed ready to jump to her sister's aid. Sugar flipped once more and landed on the large purple pillow on the floor, completely unharmed. Ghost sighed in relief.
"Are you ready now Ghost, I don't think your sister is going to join us" Ringmaster turned and started walking out.
Following him out, the moon shown bright over the circus clearing, very few clouds covered the night sky. Yawning Ghost realized how tired she was. Ringmaster must have noticed because he turned and walked over to the tent next to Sugar's. It looked the same on the outside, creepy and run down with the same thick yellow and red stripes. Inside was an exact replica of how Sugar's looked, dark and faded with creepy shadows lining the walls.
"Whenever you're ready, Ghost" Ringmaster's voice made her jump, 'Why am I so jumpy?'
Closing her eyes Ghost let her mind wander to everything she liked. She wanted a room that was soft, cozy, safe, warm, fluffy, bright, sweet, and fun. Everything that raced through her mind made the light brighter and more luminescent, for once she did not mind the bright light, it seemed to warm her from her nose to her tail tip. She almost didn't want to open her eyes; the warmth consumed her and made her sleepy. But as time went on the light dimmed and she opened her eyes waiting for the spots to clear.
"Hmm" Ringmaster looked around making a small grunt sound.
Ghost looked around at her room; in the center of the back was a fluffy round bed with piles of blankets and pillows, with a dog stuffed animal laying on top. To the left of her bed was a giant blue pillow with a stuffed brown bear on it. Trampolines were on either side of her room and in the center in front of her bed. On the roof hung two trapezes, and a large stuffed panda bear to land on. A very large striped ball lay off to the side, perfect to play on. Everything was soft and fluffy, with stuffed animals and blankets everywhere. The sides of the room were gray and pink, soft colors but not dark. The floor was soft and gray, easy on Ghost's paws unlike Sugar's room.
"I haven't seen a room like this before" Ringmaster's voice hid anything he might have been thinking. "Looks like your room has something for you" He pointed his tait at the trampoline in the middle of the room.

Walking over Ghost saw a gray collar with a pink fluff ball hanging down. Ringmaster picked it up and put it around Ghost's neck, it fit perfectly. 'Sugar didn't get anything, why me?'  Ghost looked up at Ringmaster, 'Why do I look so different from you? We are the same species aren't we?'  Ghost felt exhausted once more, stretching and yawning she looked sleepily back at Ringmaster.
"It's time for bed little one" Ringmaster pushed her toward her bed.
Curling up in the soft pillows and blankets made it easy for Ghost to fall asleep, but one thought crossed her mind. 'Why did they leave us?'
